In the framework of Triple A II 2016 activities, a study visit to the pilot project in Bucharest, Romania was attended by the representatives of NGOs from Albania, Macedonia and Montenegro between the 7th and 10th  of March 2016.Avocatul Poporului 09.03.16
The National Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux (NACAB) was the host of the study visit. During the study visit, thanks to the presentations made by the Romanian Ombudsman, participants had the opportunity to perceive how NGO’s in Romania assist citizens in solving their problems with different public institutions.
Presentations had three focus areas: the responses to citizens’ petitions, the National Agency for Equality of Chances between Women and Men in regard to dealing with domestic violence cases, and the newly formed Ministry for Public Consultation and Civic Dialog, to improve transparency of state institutions. NGOs were given the opportunity to present their work in monitoring the activity of public institutions. Romanian Helsinki Committee in association with NACAB and Active Watch presented work on increasing the access of citizens to Romanian Ombudsman, Anais Association on assisting individual cases of women victims of domestic violence in obtaining a protection order, and Transcena Association on advocacy to improve the legislation on domestic violence.
In addition a visit to Romano ButiQ – Social Entrepreneurship for the Roma people was organized in order to give the participants of the study visit a better understanding of development of Romani communities in Romania.
