Snježana Ivandić Ninković director of ADI Sarajevo attended the “The Western Balkan Hopeful three: Albania, Serbia, Montenegro – good students in EU integration, true or false?” , a conference organized in cooperation with“Out of the Box International” on 3rd May 2016 in Brussels at the European Parliament.

Among three countries Montenegro and Serbia are currently negotiating their EU membership while  Albania is expecting the opening of accession talks. The common theme of these countries’ political agendas is the rule of law-related reforms; including chapters 23 and 24. Important reform challenges are still lying ahead: the reform of public administration and the judiciary, media freedom and fight against corruption and impunity. The conference highlighted that the slow progress on reforming the current positions sends a worrying signal both about the effectiveness of the EU’s ability to steer the accession process of the Western Balkans and the level of preparedness for reform of these countries.
