INTEGRATION OF REPATRIATED PERSONS

In the last several months, VoRAE has organized a series of round table discussions with different stakeholders in order to discuss the issue of integration of repatriated persons belonging to Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities in the Kosovo society.

As a result of the Readmission Agreements signed between Kosovo and various Western European countries, many Roma families have been sent back to Kosovo. While the Kosovo Strategy on Integration of Repatriated Persons guarantees a set of rights these persons shall enjoy, there are number of difficulties in accessing those.

The aim of the round tables was to bring the voice of the repatriated persons closer to competent persons from governmental structures and local organizations.

“EDUCATION IS THE LIGHT OF THE LIFE” MARCH IN PRISTINA BY ROMA, ASHKALI AND EGYPTIAN CHILDREN

Under the slogan ‘Education is the light of the life’, VoRAE has today organized a march in the Nena Tereza Square in Pristina, where many children of the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities have called their peers for registration and stay in school.

More than 100 children between 10 and 13 years old have marched through Pristina in order to raise the public awareness of the importance of supporting the education of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian children.

Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities in Kosovo continue to live in the margins of the society, where the education level is still very low. The project aims towards raising awareness among the Roma community on the importance of education.
